Collection is comprised of the papers of Nita Sims Breazeale, Hopkins Payne Breazeale, and Robert Nicholls Sims, Jr. It consists of correspondence, legal documents, personal papers, printed material, photographs, and artifacts. The majority of the papers are those of Nita Sims Breazeale. They reflect her involvement in service organizations, and her interest in the arts, particularly the paintings of Clementine Hunter. Nita Sims Breazeale and Hopkins Payne Breazeale were prominent members of Baton Rouge society for most of the 20th century. She was the daughter of Robert Nicholls Sims, Jr., of Ascension Parish, La.
