Collection is comprised of the papers of Nita Sims Breazeale, Hopkins Payne Breazeale, and Robert Nicholls Sims, Jr. It consists of correspondence, legal documents, personal papers, printed material, photographs, and artifacts. The majority of the papers are those of Nita Sims Breazeale. They reflect her involvement in service organizations, and her interest in the arts, particularly the paintings of Clementine Hunter. Papers related to Bundles for Britain, Inc. offer insight into its organization and operations. They also relate to her interest in genealogy, and state and local history. Papers of Hopkins Payne Breazeale pertain primarily to his military service in Europe during World War I. Later material concerns his public life and his involvement in the Baton Rouge community. Nita Sims Breazeale and Hopkins Payne Breazeale were prominent members of Baton Rouge society for most of the 20th century. She was the daughter of Robert Nicholls Sims, Jr., of Ascension Parish, La.
